Has van design gone to far?

The thing is modern advantages like electronic ignition, better brakes and suspension can be retro fitted and can transform old stuff.

I know, I've done it, but sat in a tiny, possibly half wood, box, struggling to maintain a speed with everything else around bigger, heavier, faster, no power in reserve, misting up, deafened, wondering if the HGV/SUV alongside has seen you . . . or the fast approaching one behind has seen the tiny tail lights . . . "transforming" it with Marina stuff . . which is itself 40 yrs old . . .

A good air horn would be a definite requirement I think!

I ran a Moggy van for about five years then it was replaced by a Moggy pickup that i ran for 18 years as the boatyard truck.
As a round town vehicle workhorse both were hard to beat. But on a fast road it became scary as you were thrashing the hell out of them simply to keep up.
The pickup is being restored for the second time in my ownership & its getting a 1275 midget with ford type 9 gearbox, Escort rear axle & discs on the front etc.

Every problem is a opportunity........................A trip to the breakers yard and fire up the welder....................................
