Has anyone seen a threading tool like this?

The HSS disc is meant to be sharpened over and again and rotated around to present fresh cutting faces. I guess they had their uses before insert tooling took off.

Clueless here, I have a question. Is it for rolling a thread rather than cutting it? As I understand it, a rolled thread is stronger than a cut one.

Circular form tool.
That one happens to be used for thread forms
Used allot in screw machines of years past.

Easy to sharpen since you only need grind the top face.
