Has anyone experienced a gas bottle leaking overnight?

I have a 20 litre bottle of argon 5 that's coming up for 1 year old.

As of Friday night I had 100 bar showing on the guage when I shut it down on the main valve.

I came back this morning and turned it back on the find that the needle barely moved off zero.

After a few minutes if welding I have no gas so it's empty.

Well and truly **Language**ed right now as I have to get my truck finished by next weekend due to neighbors complaining to my landlord.

Bummer. You could try taking it back and complaining, but they'll probably just think you're on a blag. Good luck.

I've had gas leak out with the bottle valve open before, loosing some gas, but never with the bottle valve closed.

Is it possible that the pressure gauge at the regulator got stuck on 100 bar and unstuck itself when you turned it back on?

the loss is approx 1 litre a minute, which i suspect would make a hiss

my very first bottle from SGS did this, full 1 day and empty next morning. Emailed them direct and they knew they had a batch with faulty valves, said they would exchange it no problem. The agent wasn't having any of it though and were less than helpful. Had to go back with a name and contact number and insist they rang SGS. Eventually left with a full replacement..

Had a Brand new BOC argon that wa totally empty when we tried to use it, took back and the swapped it as it can heppen but not had one leak like this

when I used to pick bottles up from boc I used to spit in the outlet . the guy said what you doing checking it don't leak. if it bubbles get me another only been caught out once

I have had a few from BOC that were empty by the next morning. The packing nut was
not very tight on them.
I complained and they gave me another cylinder free.

We had one at work years back was a cheapo regulator that gave up
