I have bought a Harrison M300 lathe with a Dickson tool post. I think it's the T1 size. What size tooling can be used on one of these lathes with that toolpost & still be able to set it to centre height?
You can often use larger-shanked tools if you have the facility to mill down the shank to fit your holder... it's not always straight-forward as you may have to mill just the lower face, or upper and lower, depending on where the cutting edge is in relation to the shank thickness. I have some 25mm shanks milled down to about 16mm to fit my Boxford.
Yes Wedg1e I can mill down tools if needed, just thought I'd ask as I have a few turning tools at home that are too big for my current Boxford & didnt want to take too much meat off them & weaken them.
if u want to use larger tools on the smaller lathe just take the 4 post one off and fit a myford tool holder and u can fit any 3/4 tools in without milling some off to lower them
