I'm about to start making some bespoke dressing room fitted units and i've been fiddling about with some different finishes to the veneered MDF. I don't want to loose the natural finish of the wood, but protect it as far as possble. The issue will be wear more than anything else.
The Polyvine seems to be winning in so far as it doesn't look like i've slapped a coat of yacht varnish on it. The design department has selected the wanut and oak (the two on the rhs of the photo) and we may end up going with the Fiddes but a few bridges to cross until we get to the finishing stage.
Does anyone have experience of the longevity of hard wax oil as a furniture coating?
I don't want to create a maintainance issue but i suppose it's simple enough to whack another coat on if it wears?
