I just thought I would make you aware to be a bit careful when ordering stuff online from Halfords. I ordered a few bit from their website early last month. It turned out to be from one of their approved re-sellers - anyway, no goods, no contact and Halfords customer service don't want to know saying that although they are a approved partner we have no jurisdiction over them. I knew I should have ordered them from ebay !

If you were on the official Halfords website then they ARE responsible for what has happened. Email the complaints department saying you are contacting trading standards and won't be fobbed off.
I had grief a long time ago with a faulty pair of pipe grips they keeped slipping and trapping my fingers so took them back the next day with a receipt and the till monkey started telling me i had to send them back to the manufacturer! What in China? Bloody fool!
The manager was summoned and basically said the same thing and then added he couldn't refund me as the packaging was damaged! I said how would I know the tool was faulty if I hadn't unpacked it? Idiot.
I said can you give me to address of the manufacturer to send it back to then? Dumb blank faces looked back at me.
So I said they are "not fit for purpose" and "my contract is with you" refund me now!
He did but was moaning about it. That and the OP's story is very poor service and consumer rights knowledge for a big national retailer.

Contact trading standards, they will give you the low down and you can down load the details and go back to Hal Frauds and confront them.

Did you pay for the item, if so just contact your credit card company and let them know you paid but didn't receive the goods.
I use Halfords online as they price match and are round the corner so I order online and walk across to pick up the stuff, normally for cycling stuff. I find the cycling staff nice and helpful generally.

Go to their nearest shop, ask for the manager, politely explain the circumstances and tell him you're not leaving the premises until there's a refund to you credit card account. Whatever you do [i.e. no shouting or temper displays], don't let a fool drag you down to his level, because then he'll beat you with experience.....
Take all supporting printouts of emails etc.. If it all goes pear-shaped, I'm sure Ms Jill McDonald is a very nice lady.......this even gives you her direct line [well at least [probably] to her Secretary]. Experience has demonstrated that the direct approach does work.
