Hi again folks,
I am not a great welder, can just stick stuff together with a reasonable chance it will stay stuck.
But I asked the construction supervisor at work to ask his star welder to give me a class.... the welder doesn't speak much english - but wowwee.
This guy welds HP hydrocarbon pipe day in day out, and watching him put in a TIG root between a couple of 1/2 inch thick 4" pipes, with a gaping chasm of a gap, was something to behold.
I couldn't see him dabbing the rod at all, when I asked him afterwards, he showed me he was doing it from his fingers, never moving his hand.
I am going to go back for more lessons when I get back to work. I might get a chance to make a Language moderated of myself by trying it as well...

Sounds like your in very skilled company. Take full advantage!!

I wish I had someone at work that could show me how to tig (or anything else for that matter)
I'm amazed that most of them can get dressed on there own in the morning!
Treat that guy to a beer / coffee if he'll help you!

It ain't hard when like us you've done plenty of them. I can't speak for yourself but it took me a considerable amount of time to properly learn a 5/6G root.
