Hacksaws and stainless

I'm wanting to make my bike shed a little more hacksaw proof. Does anyone have any experience on cutting through something like 70x10mm plate. Can get my hands on either 304L or 316L if it matters.

This crops up now and again. Have a search and you'll get a few ideas. The general consensus seems to be a solid round bar within a piece of box section. When you cut through the box the bar revolves and ruins the grinder disk.

As above I cant think any self respecting thief nowadays has anything but a battery grinder. you can get a cheapy from lidl for less than a pukka hacksaw!

a good box section made up to cover the lock welded to the door stops the angle grinder merchants

Insurance is the answer..........people look for fancy locks etc but then get the cheapest Insurance possible........look for the best Insurance

Whats the rest of the shed like? Your typical shed is probably easier to pull the whole front off than bother with a lock on the door!

Im wanting to beef up the hinges as they're a major weak point. The lock shackle is out of reach of a grinder and the verticals have free spinning bar inside them.

My friend had a load of gear stolen , they just pryed a roof panel up , Iwould think that metal shrouds to hinges and locks coupled with a massively loud siren alarm system , plus covert cameras

I wouldn't need a grinder to get into that. I'd use a recip saw or a circular saw, and cut my own doorway.

It's not about making it invulnerable to thieves, it's about making them take as long a time as possible, with lots of noise. If they can't just lever some hinges off, then they'll have to attack with grinders, or cut a random hole in the chipboard.

A wooden peg in the hasp and staple instead of a lock, connect the mains electricity or stock fence zapper to the inner steel doors/frame.

weld the plates behind the hinges on the door so when it closes the plates go behind the door frame.so even if the hinges are cut off it cant be pulled open simlar to having pins that recess in to the frame on security doors when closed

Nah it is helpful, You've got to know it's weak points. There's enough flat bar around the walls and roof to make it noisy but yeah, a decent circular saw would do the trick. Most scrotes have power tools, I'm just hoping they've all got1.5ah batteries .
