GYS SmartMIG 162 too buy or not

I have a sip 105 migmate turbo which I have done all the mods on welds good but does play up still,
so was thinking of buying gys smartmig 162 is it going to weld consistently and reliable

Having owned a SIP and knowing what a challenge they can be I am guessing you have decided the time has come but are a bit dubious of purchasing a machine that may continue to provide you with problems.

No one is going to reassure you that if you buy a GYS it will perform perfectly, even new machines can arrive with a fault or develop a fault in the early days of use, my own new machine (not GYS) blew a capacitor within 5 mins of switching on.

I was told at the time that with the newer lightweight electronic machines, faults if they are going to happen usually happen within the early days of use.

That should not be a problem if your supplier has good aftersales service, mine had a new machine to me the next morning.

What members will probably agree with is the GYS will be a much nicer machine to use than the SIP, in fact they appear to be highly rated by the members of the forum who have them.

I am sure if you purchase one you will be happy with it's performance.

I have been hammering my GYS162 and love it. Yes its been consistent. I am not going to say reliable as I have only had it for seven months or so.But we have to take other factors into account, I use gas from a pro supply shop with proper regulators.Having said that, when I started out with the 162, I used flux core and it was pretty good.When I tried the disposable bottle with 0.8 and 0.6 , results were not so good.Now I have the proper bottle and regs, she is singing.
My MMA and TIG kit have been made somewhat redundant.
I was impressed by doubleboosts video of his R Tech mig, have a chat with him as you are UK based.
