Gunsmithing : what to buy

Greetings,

I am looking to buy a welder for my shop, we are custom gunmakers, it will be used for repairs, alterations etc, on firearms so materials to be welded will include EN8, EN9, EN19, WN24, EN36B and general "mild steel". Most jobs are "small" and on thin material.To date we have either gas welded or taken jobs to the local areo welders at the airport.

Any suggestions as to what we sould be looking for ? We have 220V and 380V current.

A tig of some sort, I don't know what is locally available where you are.

Thank you, that is what I had in mind I just wanted an educated opinion to confirm it was going to be the right thing to do.

I would agree with TIG. If you currently use gas welding, the technique is similar so you should pick it up relatively easily, and the results will be far more pleasing to the eye than stick or MIG will ever be.
