Gun and mask from same air line, or separate?

When spraying, do you have a single feed for both, or separate?

Im thinking that the mask feed goes through all the carbon / coalescing filter etc.


I assume the coalescing would be overkill for the gun? And they get "used up" eventually? The carbon certainly gets used up.


So just run the whole lot through the 3 stage, or just keep it for breathing, and run the gun off another feed?

I use the gun and mask from the same air line through a three stage filter. But only use that for spraying anything else doesn’t go through the three stage filter

I just use the one air line.
Its bad enough pulling on line around with you let alone two.
Also most belts and filters have a Tee to let you plug a whip for the spray gun, my 3m one certainly does.

Also you need good clean air for spraying so the coalescing filter is required, the carbon might be overkill but how much time will you actually be spraying?

From memory you have the devilbiss mpv623 which has a carbon filter in the belt regulator. If it has a quick release output for a spray gun then this output doesn’t go through the carbon filter

I think that you are right.

Ive also got the metalwork 3 stage, which also has carbon. So i guess im double carbon'ed.

Ill only be doing hobby spray quantity, so ill do as suggested, and run the air through all.


One other point - im thinking that ill need one of those mini regulator things (needle valves, rather than reg, i guess) for the gun then, as the main reg on the 3 stage will be doing the mask too - or do you think the range will be ok?

Ill be using a HVLP gun.

I have one on the gun as at the wall I have a regulator set at about 90 to stop the low air pressure whistle going off on my mask regulator

One. I have a Y that splits the feed off just before the air fed mask regulator.
