The G finally got it's warm up and check out run. The Bandit carbs could probably stand a little tweak and balance, but just at the moment I have more pressing business and quite frankly I CBA. However, with the lower bars I can hand on heart say it's the most comfortable bike I've ever ridden. Round town at 3,000 rpm in third you're bang on 30 mph, 2,500 in second and you're bang on 20 mph. Big four roll on takes you straight up to whatever you want. Typically smooth oil cooled gearbox, and the only 'issue' are the well covered soft forks. As a commuter it's pretty much bang on IMHO.

Yeah, I think they only had four colours, red, blue, black and this rather odd brown metallic colour. They didn't sell that well here but black seems to be the most common then this or red second.

The ones that didn't sell in the suzuki dealer near me were all that colour.

Local Ford garage had a forecourt that had rows of brown COB mk4 tinas.
The first car I painted was a mini, sharon asked me can you paint the car the lovely
brown colour on the cars in the Ford garage.
I said "you want it **** brown"!

BL had plenty of their own **** brown shades in the 70s without needing any help from Ford.

This is making me want a Jap 4 again- it’s been years but they sound so much better than my 1150GS twin.

My R1150R Rockster has a Y-section replacing the hefty Cat, & a Remus end can. Sounds rather nice (but not giving it a handful through the street at night & revs down is needed to keep the neighbours behind the curtains)

I ran a link pipe and Dominator 'silencer' on my BM 1100R for several years, quite a nice rasp to it, but a few weeks ago I suddenly got annoyed by the constant drone while riding at 60mph, and I went home and put the stock pipe back on. I can hardly hear it running, but it's much more pleasant to ride now.

I ran a link pipe and Dominator 'silencer' on my BM 1100R for several years, quite a nice rasp to it, but a few weeks ago I suddenly got annoyed by the constant drone while riding at 60mph, and I went home and put the stock pipe back on. I can hardly hear it running, but it's much more pleasant to ride now.

The free-er breathing & more responsive throttle & "pep" gained by removing the stock exhaust gubbins wouldn't be something you'd want to give up (plus the noise tended to be behind me anyway tbh).
That said - I suspect the real strangler is the heavy catalyser box... so it might be ok with the stock silencer & the y-piece

I don't ride it hard enough to really tell the difference performance wise, though the tick-over did drop fractionally once I out the stock pipe back on. I quite liked the sound when tooling around town, but at 60-70+ it just droned on quite loudly, even with ear plugs in.
Strangely enough, I did 5 or 6 trips around Europe with the Dominator on, so I'm not sure why I suddenly decided I didn't like it. The baffle hadn't flown out, or anything like that, but I'm not sure it doesn't have 'glass wadding inside that may have broken down over the years.

There is no cat on mine, the box is there, but apparently empty on U.K. models, it's just a hollow steel pressing.

Still waiting for various bits to start the Dresda, the Draw Through is a while away yet and the 1400 has taken over road duties. So as an infill job it's time to convert the G to injection.

Strip out this morning to make some working room.
