GRP buffing/polishing ???

Well by eck, a simple thing you would think but trying to find a kit that works and last is harder than you would think.

I am wanting to soon polish this boat back up to a good state.

I as always read reviews on what i want to buy if new to me but reading there is yet to be a good 75% positive reviews for any buffing/polishing kits. I have a couple of DA 125mm to use with Velcro backing pads and a DWP849 180mm polisher which has M14 threaded fixing. .

Any thoughts on a set that will last, i know there not expensive but if you need to buy more sets then it does.

Oh i am thinking on the G3- G10 polish.

For GRP I'd be straight on a rotary and a wool pad for 90% of it, it's way tougher to cut back than you'd expect.

Be careful, if you go too hard and fast you'll scorch the gel/paint..... doesn't take heat away like metal

I'm currently using Roar 610 its a fast cut polish. I'd recommend it and you don't need a lot. It's very easy to get a lot of heat when using a rotary polisher and the last thing you want is to burn the gel coat.

Dont do what my mum did 30 yrs ago - thought she'd be helpful and clean up the GRP on my kit car . . . with kitchen green scouring pads ie cheap scotchbrite! I'll allow that it was cleaner . . .
