grinding...?

On the underside resto i'm doing on my freelander. There's a few places where i can not get access with a grinder. It needs grinding back so i can repaint the rusty areas.

Anyone with any idea on what tool i can use? I'm racking my brain and i can't think of anything

Die grinder or mini-angle grinder? There are quite a few options around, especially if you look at air tools.

I'm going to get a die grinder and a air file. I never even thought air tools, I'll have a to keep an open mind in future.

Having stripped all of the paint, underseal and rust from my Type R track car to re-paint I can sympathise with the job you are doing - it's the pits!

I found that a variety of wire brush bits for a drill was the best at getting into corners and hard to reach places. I found some brushes that range from 10mm-30mm in width were the best. I also found that after a bit of use the bristles tend to twist one way which means they are polishing the surface instead of removing paint etc, I just changed the rotation of the drill when this started to happen and so on. I bought a cheap but big drill just for this job to save ruining my other drill.

For general stripping the very best mechanical tool is the fibre strip disks, either on the grinder or a drill. Knotted wire brushes work best on seam sealer.

If you haven't decided on what to use to re-coat the underside I can highly recommend a 2 pack Epoxy based based paint such as Epoxy mastic 121 applied via roller the finish is pretty decent.

I think i've caught the rust in time, its slowly coming off but its a pain
