Grinding spark inside goggles

I was just grinding a weld back and a spark somehow went inside my goggles and certainly bounced off my glasses

Would I know immediately if it went in my eye or will I find out during the night if I wake up with it hurting?

u would know streight away . it would burn on your eye be sore as hell then go rusty and would need removing ive done it . never again

I've always known about it straight away.

The worst thing is even though the fleck may have left your eye it can still feel like it's still there for a couple of days.

I managed a piece of rust that didn't start making itself felt until 12 hours after, so I guess it could go either way.

Its happened to me a few times. I've always known the instant its welded itself to my eyeball.
Probably wise to get yourself some better goggles, or make sure the ones you have fit properly. Avoid the cheapo ones.

They probably weren't tight enough around my glasses - not sure what I could do about that?

Since starting to wear reading glasses I wear a full face shield comfier and less hassle than goggles over specs.
Just a thought.

I can remember having a speck of grit removed from my eye. The sexy Doktor was very Cherman, the needle was about a yard long.
'I said Sit Schtill!!! as she freehand moved the needle (about a yard long) into my eye. like in a 70's war movie as they interrogate Tommy Atkins. I sat very schtill, and she lifted the speck out with the steadiest hands I have ever seen. Then gave me a ballocking about not wearing goggles.

Tighten the strap?

The cheapy flexible ones tend to be very loose. Think the goggles are made out of a soft plastic that stretches.
The Uvex ones are good. Well worth the investment.

Full face shield, but nothing is perfect unless it is literally sealed around your face with a dedicated air supply.

If you wear glasses at least get those little side flap bits fitted like all the guys in blue overalls used to wear.

Standard for grinding at our work is a full face visor.

Some cheap goggles are too hard meaning they don't mould to your face properly, leaving gaps.
Decent ones feel more 'rubbery' and mould nicely.

Definately use decent goggles, i use either uvex or Bolle, both a really nice fit.

i would reccommend a mask as it would provide more protection to your face and forehead if the disk was to shatter is comfier to wear and stops grinding sparks in your mouth

and once you have brought the head piece the replacable screens are no more expensive than glasses to replace

I'd recomend you get a pair of these or these

Both seem to fit round the face well, the orange one perhaps slightly more comfortable, but the clear ones have slightly more room for glasses ( i have used bith with glasses without a problem)

First thing is make sure the grinding sparks are going away from you.
