I have a couple of different dresser tools but I may give this ago

dont bother making anything just use an old used cheap 4inch diamond cutting disk of an angle grinder and run it across or run a knacked carbide masonry drill across will true and clean it up in seconds

I use a broken segment from a diamond core drill brazed to a piece of bar for dressing my wheels. It works great but does chuck the grit about.

Always used one of these on my bench grinder, makes it easy to true up a wheel; they're very hard wearing.
