Grinder or hacksaw to cut steel

I understand a grinder is not very accurate.

Do you still use one?

Put a 1mm cutting disc on it and keep yourself steady and it should be ok ish

It all depends on the profile you're cutting and also the thickness. Like Baz says, the 1mm discs are very good although they don't last many cuts.
What sort of stuff do you need to cut?

Accurate in terms of what?

I use a grinder all the time, with a 1mm disk and a steady hand you can happily cut a line that is <1mm away from where you wanted it, indeed better accuracy than that isn't hard.

Dropping a straight cut through box section takes a bit more care - but then if you can't do it you could mark all four sides and rotate and cut each one.

Id happily say that a 1mm disc will cut as accuratly as a hacksaw blade with a bit of practice and some nice clean goggles.

If it's say 2mm angle then I just use the hacksaw, nice and accurate and no need to bother digging out the grinder/extension lead/ppe/etc
