Grinder cable

Hi new on here one thing at really annoying me at mo is my grinder cables keep coiling up all time! Is there any way of stopping the from doing this??? Thanks for any help

sounds like one of them cheap plastic cables, put a rubber type one on it ?

this happens when you wind the cable around the grinder all the time...i recently started coiling mine now like a hose pipe and its stopped doing it

Wrap them around the body in a figure of eight.
I have been meaning to put up a post about this for several years.
I spent years flying kites, as you wrap the line/flex round a handle or whatever you are putting twists into it, eventually it develops a memory and goes into a hideus coiled mess. Multiply this by three angle grinders on a gang socket and it is a major pain.

So start at one end and uncoil it, making sure to chase the twists over the whole length.
The wrap it in a figure of eight round the body of the grinder, this means alternating clockwise and anti clockwise avoiding the self coiling effect.

Takes a while to become habit, but eventually no hideous mess. I have noticed that most of my mates have started doing this as well.

Drives me blody mad when somebody borrows a tool and winds the lead up wrong.

Rubber ones do it as well but not as badly as the cheap stiff leads.

That's what I do with them, round the handle then round the body of the grinder and don't pull them tight.

Noticed this today as I was grinding multiple small bits. Thought about it, and found I was putting down the grinder one way, then picking it up slightly differently. Each time it was half a turn, so after several goes, there were twists in the cable (nice rubber one from Dewalt) Modified my put down/pick up style and Voila! No twists.
The cheap cables are carp, espec in the cold, very stiff and unhelpfull.

Quite, The nice flexable rubber cable on my DW drill is nice and long. Just gets tangled up in the car with the other tools.

Friend, spark type, was moaning about how he left everthing tidy in the boot.. next day, at the job, all the cables were messed up. He blamed the midnight cable gremlins.

Cable Gremlins? are they related to Carp cables? they would get real messy.

Yes, the carp sticks to the gremlins fur, quite horrible on a cold morning, puts me right off my cornies.

this hard cable thats on most cheaper brand power tools these days is almost as anoying as the 2ft length they give you and expect to work with it

on my new hitachi grinder the lead wasnt much longer and i wouldnt consider hitachi to be particularly cheap

i change the lead before i use the but always keep the old one as i would put it back on if i had a warranty claim as otherwise i reckon they would try and get out of it
