Finally got round to registering here!

My current project is making myself a nice welding bench for my new workshop, plenty of projects here to give me ideas. Still unsure how to shift a 200+kg steel worktop though!

I've had a few welders over the years:
Second hand Clarke 150 turbo MIG (we all start somewhere)
Second hand NuTool 180 something MIG (it was £30 and was better than the clarke)

Currently got:
Migatronic Pilot 2000 TIG
Star Kamanchi 350S MIG

Still can't weld ally for love nor money, one day I will go on a course to learn. I can make bits stick together, they just don't look pretty.

I've not done much recently, mostly due to moving, but now I'm finally getting my workshop sorted I should do more.

Welcome Mr Blackcat, bet the neighbours love you with a big genny running whenever your playing, or is it a necessity (sp), it does look as if you could be in the middle of nowhere. Nice setup though.

Engine crane and careful stratigic stropping is the way forward for lifting a bench top (if you can`t get a crane/hoist/forklift in that is) Managed mine that way, thread about it somewhere in here, have a search for "welding table" or "heavy plate" for a few suggestions. Failing that, pop to tescos (other supermarkets are available) buy a crate of beer, and invite a few strong friends round to consume them.

The genny is quieter than my old direct drive compressor Its classed as 'super silent'. The only real problem is when the wind blows the nice diesel fumes towards the house.

I'd like a busa engine but I'm planning on using a '94 CBR1000.

I got to that point then decided to move house, that was early 2006

I'll bet it'll take a few weeks for the silly grin to wear off, once its up and running....

Should have plenty grunt with that motor anyway!!
