A friend recently gifted me his vintage Lincoln tombstone. I've watched a ton of videos, bought a helmet and a bunch of AC rods, and started practicing arc starts and weld lines on some scrap plate. So many informative posts from this forum popped up in searches that I wanted to join.
We have a 10-acre homestead in the Santa Cruz mountains, so I can claim that a welder is a must-have new tool. First real project is rebar cages for some deep concrete piers for a solar ground mount. I really like old school stick welding. I see lots of shiny new welders for sale, but I'm getting a kick out of using a welder made about the same year I was born. Plus, free.

Hello,
I am building a deer fence out of rebar and wanted to see if anyone could give me advice/pointers on welding the joints. I am new to welding and have found a local class that teaches mig welding. I just wanted to see if anyone here has had experience with welding rebar.
Sincerely,
Tony
