Greenhouse inspired planter thing

Hi, I have been after a raised planter to go in the middle of a flower border,
(sort of a hanging basket but without the hanging and the basket if you Know what I mean )
so I set too with the last of my stock of square bar and taking inspiration from the greenhouse have arrived at this.

The idea is to line the bottom third with moss and polythene and have trailing plants growing from it, It's turned out a bit heavier than I thought so the support tends to flex and it sways a little so I may have to review / replace that with heavier bar or some side bracing.

Anyhow's thought I would share it.

You Know Chris your absolutely right there I knew I had seen something similar once I had the basic shape but couldn't think of the name.

Very nice indeed! Maybe have a tall narrow tripod type of stand for it, and have something growing up and around that too?

The challenge now is to make the beefing up look part of the original idea.
Think of flying buttresses. They were an afterthought and look wonderful.

Thanks Chunko, thats the challenge now indeed, I wanted to try and make it so it appears to float in the border with the planting hiding the slim support and thought that by twisting the support bar it would be stiff enough to achieve this, however, I underestimated the flex factor somewhat, (I shall claim Flex factor as a new engineering term) I have one more lengh of bar left which if cut in half will give me two more uprights so I think I will twist that to match the original and either go for the tripod option or weld them to the original upright thereby making it thicker.

I love this,reminds me of a little church.
I wouldn't put plants in this,i would make it in to a garden light of sorts,little Leds/ tea lights or something.
Once you put plants in and they start to grow they are gonna hide all your hard work.

Thanks Strada, this is the first one of these I've made and my welding is a bit iffy in places so the plants hiding it wouldn't be such a bad thing, funny enough I had the top section on the garden table at one stage and thought this would be nice on a summers evening with some tea lights in it.

I may make another and paint with bbq paint and use for that purpose, may be the start of a model village, church etc

Holy thread resurrection batman!!! I've had this greenhouse planter thingy knocking about at the back of the garage for ages, never having actually figured out what I was going to use it for. As our old bird feeder had finally succumbed to the forces of nature and disintegrated, I figured our feathered friends would appreciate a new feeder for xmas. I was not that keen on the off the shelf options available so I added a few hooks and a stronger pole to the base of what I had and voila a new feeder.

If the feed packaging is correct I should get some great tits in the garden,
