grease help-

trying to fix up a hydraulic nut splitter , the stuff i took out was very thick , like lard from the fridge almost , i tried it with bearing grease and it gets past the seals

im struggling to search online for specs /brands that would be extremly thick compared to regular stuff

any ideas on a brand /part number to look for ? cheaper the better

You could always stick some lard from the fridge in there.....

Seriously though, I have found calcium water pump grease to be very thick - might be worth a shot?

You require an NGLI 4, 5 or 6 grade of grease, with my preference for that application being an NGLI 5. It is the grease I often used in hydraulic ram type chain tensioners in mines and heavy duty industrial applications especially on lowerator chain tensioners. and I have used it in certain track tensioning applications when I worked as an R&D engineer for Caterpillar.

I've refurbed a Sykes hydraulic puller and it was a special grease that you warm to liguid to put it in.

can you name something please? probably have to get some online as i doubt local car spares place has anything other than normal stuff

These probably won't be the right seal but the grease will be right. It is a bit a of pain to do as the whole reason it works is the same reason it's a pain to put back together

Cant think of the name, We used the same grease in Audco valves, It comes in sticks, very firm coated with talcum powder,
Just googled Audco valve grease, It's still used but the want silly money,

Give them a call, in the past when I needed some grease for the company splitter. I called them and the price was I think about £6 for the "Special to type" grease. or £12 for a re-frurb kit. That was a few years ago through.

I've seen that film more than once............. and I have been in several Sanderson, Claas and Caterpillar telescopic handler promotional films..... I an clearly visible in the Sanderson TL7 video and the Claas Ranger GX525 and the Claas Targo videos.

Not a bad price. And gone down in price.
