gravitex over 2k without prep?

I was going to raptor the footwells of my defender, but ive still not sorted out a breathing system (i have an air fed, but the coalescing filter etc)

I guess i could risk boiler lung etc on the time it would take to do a couple of footwells, or i could just use gravitex.


Does gravitex go on ok over 2k? Id kind of rather not sand the 2k, as, if the gravitex does fail, the 2k will still be there.

Or should i just raptor it? I could possibly wear a paper mask under my air fed - i dont know if that would take out any water / oil particulate matter. As i say, it will be a tiny amount of time anyhow.

(i realise things are not perfect, but there are levels of risk that im ok with - otherwise i wouldnt drive a car at all!)

You need to flat the 2k or the gravitex will peel

Both the raptor and gravitex will require the 2k keying before application.
Is this painting the footwells where your feet go? If so then the stonechip needs painting over or it will be grubby in no time and difficult to clean.

Ok, so if i rough up with some wet and dry (without water, right?) by hand, that will be good?

And, no - on the outside side of the footwells - behind the front wheel.

use a red scotch pad and some soapy water , will provide a key without removing paint

any vote on gravitex vs raptor?

i would have thought that the spring / flexibility of gravitex vs the more rigid nature (as i understand it - ive never seen it) of raptor would be better for an area that may suffer impact?

Raptor is a pain for small areas, needs a couple of coats with an hour flash off, but the pot life is also 1 hour, so that means decanting and mixing in smaller quantities and gun clean up afeter each coat.

raptor is tougher

if you go gravitex i would overcoat it with something gloss as it goes chalky and doesnt look great on its own

Raptor can be brushed or rolled too I found flash of to be 30 mins or less

You can mix up the raptor in smaller quantities. The rest will keep.
