Decided late last year I needed a new welding helmet.
Have an old Parweld with tiny slot which was good. Got a cheap Parkside with big glass which was also good, but broke 2 head straps in a year.
Came across the XR942H by chance so though I'd give it a go. Ordered last year, My Mum gave it to me for Christmas and today I used it for the first time.
So far I am very impressed. It just feels worlds apart from anything else. I was not prepared for how having the side screens would make it so much more pleasant to wear.
You don't feel restricted, I was happy to keep it on and down whilst working this afternoon. Very clear visibility with it on.
There seem to be settings galore, but the Auto stuff seemed to work fine out of the box. I did tweak the delay down a bit after a while.
Controls are very easy to understand and use, although both inside and outside I needed to remove a glove to use them.
Switching to grind mode is easy (still have to remove glove) just a button press rather than turning a dial like my old one.
The side windows can be locked dark if you so desire.
So very happy. I was worried that it would be heavy but it feels okay, especially as I can keep it down in between welds and still find stuff on the bench etc..
Just got to get used to turning it on and off before/after use.
Didn't break the bank either.
