Google nest - help needed before buying

I have a Worcester Bosch Greenstar 24i boiler - around 10 years old. There is a thermostat (Corgi) fitted in the hall that has never worked. It has two wires one black and one red and this just seems to be a 240 volt supply (and it's live).
I am wanting to install a Google Nest system for better control but can't fathom out if my boiler is compatible and if so what wires will I need? I live in a bungalow so getting wires through the loft from the boiler in the kitchen to the hall is easy enough. Any help appreciated.

Nest usually has a box mounted near the boiler, but within WiFi range of the house - if the boiler is like ours inside the garage, we ran some cables and the boxes sit on top of the kitchen cupboards. If you have a decent WiFi signal at your boiler then it can be sat next to it.

The actual thermostat connects to the box via WiFi so can be sited anywhere in the house.

The nest base unit gives a pair of normally open contacts which interface easily with any standard boiler's "call for heat" input.

Thanks guys ..just looked at a couple of youtube vids and it seems pretty straightforward .. I'll check the wifi by boiler but its close to the router so should be fine.... off to toolstation then !!

Ours was an early version (had it about 8 years) so don’t know if there are some differences but as far I know it’s the same. We have our thermostats placed in the kitchen and living room (2 zones) - all you need is a plug but I think you can get a hardwired kit to reuse existing thermostat wires? Not 100% sure on that as we don’t have it.

The WiFi works great for us though, so no never needed anything else.

You will need to experiment with the placement of the controller. Bear in mind that local heat sources like a woodburner or even sunlight will shut down the system. You can set a useful schedule of heating and even lock the controller to prevent 'indoors from treating it as an on/off switch, although mine has worked out how to manually override it now.

Thanks again...... I've .looked all over but out of stock at all the discount places and I'm not paying £80 - £100 extra for one so I'll wait until they are back in stock in Toolstation or Screwfix. Waited 10 years so a few weeks won't matter!!

There is a "Used - like new"" on Amazon currently, any good?

Thanks for the info .. I've bought a 'used like new' off Ebay should be here in a few days ......
