Yesterday I was given there of these to start my first project

As you can see I've take out the valve to let the gas out ,I read somewhere that you fill it with water empty it out and fill again
And leave the water in to cut it out the door with a disc cutter or jig saw ,my second question is when you get around to putting the flue
On has it got to be in the middle on the top or can you put it to to one side on top ,any tips would be a big help thanks

Usually off to the back, or horizontally out the rear face. Needs a baffle at an angle under the flue to about 2/3 towards the front.
Cleaning process sounds fine. It will still smell when the gas is gone, because of the stink they put into the gas which is odourless.

Sorry mate I don't understand what you mean by a baffle under the flue have you got any pictures I can look at

Hi Gareth

Although I've not done a stove before, I believe a baffle is a plate to divert the flame from going straight up the chimney to extract as much heat from it as possible, so the heat doesn't just go up the chimney.

Do a search, on this site and youtube there are some impressive gas bottle stoves that extract loads of heat from the fuel.

Here is my first attempt at a wood burner I've done today


As you can see from the pictures I haven't put the flue on yet due to don't know what size to use.
As it is a small bottle could I use 2 inch box section as a flue and drill holes in the bottom of the bottle
Under the rack to give the fire a better draw ? If not which way is the best way to do it to

If you look at the lower sketch, the top baffle is marked.
And the holes for air would be better in the door, with some way of adjusting them.

A square flue would be fine and easier to cut the hole with an angle grinder

I cen remember seeing one of my neighbours install a gas bottle burner in his caravan still painted.
he thought it looked cool with the paint on. it sort of did.
Until he lit it.

It will work with as little as 2" square. But go for a bit bigger if you can, say 3". The top stove I linked to worked fine with a 4", but is quite a lot bigger than yours.

Mr. C, it is not just the paint, some have zinc on them.

Had a price on some 3inch box section in 10 foot length,3mm thick all mine for £8 pound would this be suitable for my wood burner
