Hi All, I've been having a good read on hear for the last couple of weeks since finding the forum, and really appreciate the wealth of info on here. My brother and I are after a half decent home use mig welder for welding up and maintaining a couple of old disco 1's, and other project ideas, nothing too heavy or thick steel though, 4 to 5mm max I'd say.
We started out thinking if we put 200 to 300 quid in each, we could get a nice 2nd hand mig, but looking into it, a good new one should be possible for this. We also like the idea of buying local for after sales service. The local shop can do us the following, two welders I've not read much about on here so opinions welcomed!
Oerlikon Citolene 1700M
Miller Migmatic 175
Also quite temped by the Portamig 185, which gets good reviews on here, but is not local so could be a pain if ever it needed sending back.
What do you reckon out of those three? Is the Portamig still the one to go with out of those if you assume prices are very similar? Obviously open to any other suggestions and could still go for a used unit.
Many thanks
