I'm on the look out for a good boiler suit, I have had the port west ones and they usually last me the best part of a week. Any recommendations?

We used Pioner ringmaster for a long time. found them to be pretty good, Two zipped breast pockets, Ideal for working over turbines etc.

Must have been the same ones I tried! Absolute rubbish.
wear carhartt but if it needs high viz then Bizweld, Roots, Englebert are ones I have which are all as good as each other to be honest.
I have had helly Hansen before and they are brilliant just too spend if it's me paying!

I am surprised, I have a Portwest boiler suit and it is one of the best I own. There are different types though so I will check today.
Had it a while too so that might make a difference.

The port west yellow high vis ones are useless for around the £100 mark! Honestly 1 - 2 weeks and the reflective tape is hanging off and the press studs breaking.
Ive now got portwest bizflame orange overalls and they’re a world apart in quality and I think they cost £82.
Im still yet to try the Roots Arcbuster/Flamebuster overalls, finding my size isn’t easy. I was working with a guy the other day and he had had his ones for years.
really the overalls you want to be buying are the ones with inherent protection. Araflame, Modaflame, Nomex etc.
Fristads make some nice ones but around the £200 mark they’re too expensive to get ruined at the places I go.

remember loads of overalls are FR but not all are suitable for welding.
You’re looking for overalls that have been tested to EN11611 for welding.
you’ll also seen EN11612, that’s heat

I have the Port West Safe Welder ones but I am only a hobbyist so perhaps they don't get the use a professional will give them 
You correct there. I had some Phoenix FR from arco. the first day I was cutting with a 9" grinder and burned a hold in the leg in 10 seconds.
big fan of the pioneer gear, no longer have the stock of early years from offshore. What I've found makes a big difference is a leather apron when grinding or welding. I use body warmer type jackets during winter, and almost every one has been destroyed by grinder sparks all to the right hand pocket (right handed), so bought a bib and brace type leather apron... now the jackets and other working gear lasts way longer

The orange port west with the blue legs disintegrated in a day with me welding and grinding. The biz weld ones are much better.
the fristad are good. There’s a guy in Shetland who does them for around £150 I’m told. Waiting for a number for him as I want to try them

The roots overalls are proper stuff , On the company card mind
Used offshore a lot and it is not too hard to buy them off ebay cheap from these ex rig rental type places the only difference being worn a few times and having bilfinger services on it or something however may struggle to get the right sizes luck of the draw of whats came out the clothing rental companies
Heres some roots coveralls for just £26 beats £100 or whatever they are selling for new these days !

Also bonus FR points would be these ex RAF Nomex overalls heard this from a welder down under he said the nomex stays good for ages with sparks and spaltter just the hi vis material that suffers from it if you have a flight suit with hi vis anyway these ones don't

I wear the Dickies FR overalls and I like em lots, but not for grinding/welding.... first time I did some serious grinding I burnt a hole straight through them... mind you, that was after a few washes, and normal washing will damage the FR properties.
Still, they are 350gsm cotton and are still better than normal denim.
I've just wrecked a set after nearly 2 years, around 20 hours/week average, too many holes to bother to repair.
