Going To Gas. Any Advice??

Decided to go from Gasless to Gas. I have a disposable co2 bottle that came with it but am going to get a bigger bottle.

So my question is :- Do I need pure co2, co2/argon mix etc... Just going to be welding 3mm box and angle. Trailers etc.

Also gas flow rate etc.

Any help is appreciated

Hi.
For the thickness of material you mention Co2 is ok and cheaper, Argon Co2..usually 80/20 mix is a little nicer to use, if car body work is involved the 95/5 percentage is better at low amps.
Gas flow rates where unaffected by draughts etc is usually around 10 litres/min, if welding outside a portable screen is handy to shelter against any wind effect.

CO2 will be fine if you have a decent wire feeder. It has a lower wire speed range than argon mixes.

Note: the 95/5 referred to is 5% CO2 and usually 2-3% O2, not 95/5 Ar/CO2, That produces tall welds unless your are doing spray transfer.

You want 10LPM flow rate. CO2 is cheap, no need to be a miser with it.

I have argon mix available but use straight CO2 because it is cheap.

You will need a reg for a CO2 bottle, the argon mix ones are different. Weldequip stock them with the adapter for small welders.
