I hate the new version as well. It seems to take twice as long to load and if you have a few tabs open if you navigate back to the Gmail tab it seems to reset and reload the tab from scratch so you have to wait again.
I guess it's because I'm still running Windows XP on my works laptop.

Yahoo have done the same. Its just a load of nonsense to force more ads onto the screen. They all need to be careful they don't do what Photobucket did and make the interfaces unusable by doing this. Even ebay has gone that way to an extent - very slow on my old ipad2 now.

Three of my gmail accounts have automatically updated, even though I did not request it.
My main account has not - yet - updated.
I'm also finding Firefox 'hanging' badly today. Which may or may not be related - I run Adblock plus as well.

I don't like the new layout either, I make the best of it by switching the look down to comfortable and select a dark theme. I've had this account for 10 years or so now I don't really want to get rid tbh.

I reverted to the old layout after an hour or two of the new one - couldn't stand it.
Google now inform me I won't have that choice in the next couple of weeks, as it will go to the new layout and stay that way.
It it weren't a free service I'd demand a refund.

Got to agree that the new 'look' is 'orrible. Why can't they adopt the 'If it ain't broke' philosophy. I still use XP because it works! I'm an Apple fan anyway as the software has never gone wrong on my old Apple tower in 13 years. Unlike Windross which seems to spend more time sulking on versions past XP.

Windows 10 isn't that bad tbh. I use it Daily in my IT job and it's stable. MS seem to have this habit of every other release of windows being ok. Me, Vista and 8 being notably rubbish. XP 7 and 10 being decent.

Meh. Didnt like it. Was very laggy. Now im forced to use it il install thunderbird or similar and stay off the web interface.

i use gmail for general stuff but for my emails to freinds and family i use proton mail i never get spam and it is easy to use.

I've noticed that Google Chrome, which I use as my browser in all devices [not my Smartphone though] except for email, has recently presented a fresh GUI.

It's not so much the appearance of the new interface, it's that a couple of things can't be done as easily as with the old one. If you get forced to use the New Improved (can you tell that's dripping with sarcasm as I write it?) version, there is a way back.
Simply load up the HTML version - it's damn near the same as the old one, and still available until google touch it with the icy finger of doom
