Giffgaff anyone?

Daughter bought me a new moby for Xmas, an all singing, all dancing thing that has so many gadgets it could probably run the next space shuttle launch.

Now after a fair bit of studying and awful lot of cussing, I think there may be some use I can find for it and for the first time am considering using my mobile for the web....it also takes much better photo's than my old one.

My present o2 Simplicity will hammer me with charges for web browsing.

I have noticed the £12 a month giffgaf sim gives ample call allowance for my use, free texts and free web use and I think it uses the o2 network so coverage should be the same.

Any comments of members using it?

Steve, if its a smart phone, you can probably hook it up to wifi, if you have it at home etc.... saves any data charges unless you are out.... depends on what and where you will be using it.

Yes it appears I can do that, was thinking of the time sitting in the car waiting for my better half to finish shopping ..so probably away from home web use.

three mobile have a £6 sim only deal. check coverage first. i have to use vodaphone as its the only one that works at work

I use giffgaff for my mobile broadband dongle.... cheapest by far and have had no problems or complaints so far.

Yeah Mate was on 3 and when he went down Barrow way there was massive gaps in coverage, my o2 always has a signal....hence if giffgaff using o2's network it makes it appealing..as long as they are on the same strength.

You could sign up to something like BT Fon or use unprotected wi-fi hotspots so you can access the web whilst you're out and about.

Used it forsometime, if your phone is an andriod. D/L PDANET. TURNS PHONE INTO modem. Got it connect ed to my laptop and tab2.

Hubble uses a 286,running dos, as its the most stable chipset and os

Personally I'm not keen on this Cloud idea and on-line storage schemes. I like my data where I can control it.

Is it network locked? i.e locked to O2.Vodafone,Orange e.t.c
You may have to get it unlocked to use gifgaf sim?

With regards to sky cloud its the same as bt fon. If you have sky broadband you can download the sky cloud app enter you username and password then you can use other wifi hotspots. I could never find one close enough wherever I was parked waiting for wife lol.

Its unlocked, think I will get a GG sim..worse that can happen is I waste £12 for a months use

Literally just got my number ported over to Giffgaff and so far all running smoothly. I was made redundant just before Xmas and wanted to keep my old number which the firm let me and also let me keep the unlocked smartphone too.
Three deals looked good but coverage where I live and the in laws is a bit iffy. So knowing O2 network is good where I need it went for giffgaff.
I try to use wifi wherever possible and being a Sky customer is useful for The Cloud service. Just got to keep an eye on usage now as I have not been the one paying the bill in the past.
These SIM only deals ought to be good as one of the biggest costs is the handset so if all you want is airtime it should be cheap.
