hi folks, i came across this forum whilst trying to find some info, so thought i'd join and ask my questions on here as i couldn't find exactly what i need.
i'm in the process of restoring a classic mini in my single garage at home. so far i have run 4mm armoured cable out and fitted a consumer unit. so i have a socket ring main on 2.5mm cable and a seperate lighting circuit.
i'm now in the process of looking for a mig welding unit and have a few options.
i could buy a new hobby unit from somewhere like machine-mart, but with a budget of £200ish, i'm not going to get anything outstanding. i've found locally a used (but apparently mint condition) murex tradesmig 165 for £200.
am i correct in assuming i wouldn't be able to use the unit at full power as i'm on a domestic supply? but would it be useable enough for some light bodywork?
any oppinions would be greatly appreciated
