Hi Whiskey. You will have to give us some clues on what you want to use it for and what your budget is. If you plan to weld aluminium with it you will need an AC/DC TIG which is quite a bit more expensive than a straight DC one which will do steel and stainless steel?
Thanks Graham is to weld motorcycle frames and do small box's .But I was looking for the region of £1000. There are so many makes but yes that's why I need the advice on some one on which is the best one.
Hi Whiskey, I have a Lorch AC/DC TIG myself which is excellent and well supported in the UK (I'm pretty sure it came with a 3 year warranty). Assuming you don't think you would need to weld Aluminium then a DC set would suffice. My Lorch would be quite a bit over your budget but a DC only TIG will always cost considerably less. I'm afraid I don't know what a DC Lorch would cost or whether they are widely available and supported in Gibraltar? If you read of some of the other threads on here you will see that the R-Tech machines come highly recommended and seem to be very good value for money - again, I'm not sure whether they would supply to and support in Gibraltar? Either way, I would think you should get a decent machine for £1,000. Don’t forget that you will need to source some pure Argon shielding gas a welding mask and other bits and pieces (e.g. TIG torch consumables, filler rod, etc.).
Good Luck
