Years ago someone I knew bought scooters in italy and drove them back to the uk.Uk plates on in italy, italian plates on in the uk.
You can drive a car without MOT or tax to and from a pre arranged MOT testThe MOT thing only works if the vehicle is still taxed, if it has no tax as well your only options are trailer it or chance it.
90 minutes is a long time to be testing your luck - for the cost of trailer hire I'd go down that route personally.
but it needs insurancetrade plates would cover the tax but not the MOT, BUT you could book an MOT near home and then drive to the pre booked appointment, seen it done at a bike rally, a mate took his bike for an mot the day before the rally, failed on the rear tyre, by the time he had fitted a new tyre the MOT place had closed so he booked one in the town where the rally was, rode it up there and got it tested, no tax or mot required if driving to a pre booked MOT, that is what I will do when road testing the horse box, book an mot, road test it, cancell the mot, then re book when I am ready,
most roads are fitted with anpr cameras. so if u fancy a ticket through the door and loose your licence is it worth itThe MOT thing only works if the vehicle is still taxed, if it has no tax as well your only options are trailer it or chance it.

Fit French plates Or register the address on one of the islands up North where MOTs aren't required...Ive got a Transit maybe coming back from France in September that will need an MOT soonest. I'd like to get one done near as possible the ferry in Dover but if it gets a red fail there, Im stuffed. Booking an MOT here in Gloucestershire feels like pushing my luck a bit too far... getting it trailered back here will probably cost as much as its worth though..
I’d be interested in a link to where that is written.MOT and tax are exempt day of test.

Its all there on the gov site about MOTs . . . tells you the only time you can use a car with no MOT is to take it to a place of repair, or for an MOT . . .I’d be interested in a link to where that is written.
