Generator to run mig set

I have recently acquired 2 garages which unfortunately don't have electric. I need:

a) a generator to power a mig welder, grinder lighting etc (not all the same time)

b) a mig welder (low budget and suitable for car work)

The lack of responces must be due to jelousy of acquiring two garages!! Sorry cant advise on the generators tho....

You'll need an expensive generator to run welding equipment I'm afraid so it's not good news and even then a cheap welder is not going to be the best to run from it. An inverter based machine would be best suited to generator use but something like 5 to 8 Kva would be the recommended size to run it from.
