Generator size?

I am starting to tidy up the bosses (wifes) horsebox but because i have no room at home to park it i need to work on it in her field so need a generator big enough to run my mig, its a SIP 195 turbo i have been looking at a Wolf W5500e any help would be great

The general consensus is figure out how much power the MIG needs and triple it. Welders have sudden current changes that can stall generators, collapse the field or damage windings.

A 195 takes over 5KVA. So to run it flat out, you would need a 15kVA generator.

I think someone said they run a 130A MIG off a 5500VA genny and can use the lower half of the settings.

If you can prep to do the welding in one hit it might be better to hire a generator welder for a weekend?
