Picked up an unusual generator today, powered by a Briggs & Stratton engine of 1973 vintage with an alternator badged as Petter, after hours of googling I can't find any of that shape, has anyone seen anything similar?.

Will be following this as i have never seen one like that before very intriguing.
Is that cable wrapped in earthing tape a shorting link to touch on the top of the plug to stop the engine?

Good find although the poster is having the same trouble identifying it at least I know it's not a McCulloch Mite-E-Lite as that has a round alternator casing.

No idea, no data plate which is why I'm trying to find out what make it is. The previous owner boiled a kettle with it so it's got to be north of a kW?.

Yeh I agree. An angle grinder sucks the amps on start up too so if it manages that it is a bonus.

4 hp should get you 2.5 kW

presuming its 220 - 240 v and 3000 rpm.
