Hi.
I've been attempting to arc weld the underneath of my car (a Saxo - I know, know, made of foil). Anyway, as you'd expect I'm not finding it too easy. Where the metal is thicker obviously isn't so bad, but in general I'm either blowing holes or not producing good welds.
So far I've only worked on repairing an area that's not covered by the MOT. Now, I need to move on to the important areas near suspension and the sills.
I've read a lot on here recently, and know that in general mig is the way to go for cars - but I'll be working outside and really don't want to mess on with gas. So, should I persevere with arc, or would gasless mig be much better? Despite the temptation of the £75 special at screwfix, I'd be looking at the Clarke 90EN or 105EN.
Thoughts please?
Cheers, Tony.
