Gas usage

Hi Everyone

I have recently started to teach myself to weld

I have a sealey 150/1 supermig

I have been making a motorcycle lift table (from 40mm box) .. although both frustrated and happy with the results of my welding

I seem to have used 2 bottles of argon/co2 mix so far the second bottle emptying very quick maybe 2-3 hrs welding

Would anyone be willing to inform me how to try and minimize my gas use this for the next bottle ... I am using 10 liter bottles from Barnet welding and its a 60 quid per fill (including courier fees)

That sounds like a lot for a 10l cylinder, how much is the delivery charge?
Regarding gas usage, are you welding indoors or out and what flow rate have you got the regulator set at?

I have checked for leaks after the first bottle which lasted a lot longer and did a lot more welding (and i had to re weld a lot until i got things moving)

As too the settings and where and how to set that's the info i am after . as i am hoping that is the problem ... cos if not its cheaper to pay some one to do my new found hobby for me
