Hi all. You were very helpful on my thread looking for advice on which welder to buy so I'm back again looking for gas advice.
I don't really want to waste time and money on disposable bottles so I'll be going down the refillable route. I guess I'll be using SGS, Hobbyweld or Adams with HW looking the cheapest so far, but I have questions about the set-up.
1. Can you recommend a decent regulator and/or flowmeter? There's loads out there on eBay, but if any of you have hands-on experience and can recommend something known to be reliable (but not to expensive) I'd appreciate it. I think I would prefer a dual-gauge regulator with a bolt-on peashooter flowmeter, but am open to advice.
2. I doubt I'll be moving my welder around and can't really spare the space for a trolley so I'm thinking I would strap the bottle to a couple of brackets on the wall of my garage just inside the door with a 2-3m flying hose coming out of the flowmeter that connects to the welder using these little doohickeys so I can tuck the welder away in a cupboard when I'm not using it. Does that seem like a reasonable idea? Any reason this could cause me problems? If I were to extend the flying hose to, say, 5m would I lose significant pressure at the gun?
Thanks once again.
