Hi;
Similiar thread started here but here are my particular questions.
I have just switched from Adams Gas Argoshield (93% Argon, 5% CO2, 2% Oxy) to BOC Y Size Argoshield Light, I am using an old Regulator and Flow Meter that has worked fine.
I am using a Clarke 160EN Turbo with 0.6mm Mild Steel Welding Wire.
I am doing up an old Austin Mini 1000 so I am welding 0.8mm to 2mm but will also be making up some bits n pieces welding 3mm Angle Iron (Do have some 6mm but that will prob be more than my Clarke 160EN Turb can handle)
I just need some re-assurance / reminding on the correct setup.
I have opened the BOC Vale 1/4 turn and have just under 250 PSI reading on my regulator guage, I have then turned the valve on my regulator 1 1/2 turns and with the Flow meter knob fully open when the trigger is pressed I get about 12.5 LPM.
I have just noticed (after 4 years) that the valve on my regulator has an LMP scale on it starting at 30 to about 8. If you fully open the valve it shuts off the gas again. So when opening the valve Anti Clock Wise it goes from closed to fully open then gradually reducing in flow to shut (ish) again. With the valve set to 30 and my Flow Regulator (Pea Type) fully open I obviously hit the top of my Flow Meter.
Questions:
1. How far should I open the valve on the BOC bottle, currently 1/4.
2. How far should I open the main valve on my regulator?
3 What Flow Rate should I set the Pea Type Flow Regulator? I have always used 10?
Many thanks in advance guys :-)
