gas mask for fumes...

I was just wondering what others might be using as 'gas' masks when welding.
I use a 3m 6000 mask and the gas / vapour and fume filters (the 6001 ones I think) as it
is what I have.
This just fits under the hood but anything bigger and I would need a new hood.
Should I be using a special or different type of filter for welding fumes?
As I use flux core I also have 2 fans blowing.

I was reading elsewhere that 3m have other welding specific filters.
The model no. is
3M 7093 P100

I might give them a go if I do not try the ones suggested by Fintray.

Does no one else here use gas masks when welding?

I only use a mask when welding in a confined area or on galvanized or painted/coated metal surfaces.

Bought exactly the same mask as you the other day for a little bit of spray painting and cutting MDF board.

I don't generally wear a mask, because usually only do short runs.

Usually weld outside or in garage/shed doorways, especially with fluxcore, or doing a bit of stick welding. Don't weld galv, unless it's well cleaned up beforehand.

Never used a gas mask with argon/CO2 welding inside, usually lightweight projects.

I ask as I use flux core wire and find it very smoky. I watched my brother weld
and noticed the amount of smoke.
I think I will get some of the disposable masks and some extra ventilation.
I concentrated so much on protecting my eyes I tended to forget the breathing part...

if you keep your head tilted down you dont get any smoke up the front of the mask
