I get mine from Linde. Rental contract on the bottle. They did send me some bumph on buying small bottles if my usage was only occasional.
I own several bottles from previous places, but nobody will fill them in France even if I asked for them to test them (they were in test) So you will have to buy one off your agent. (mine is in Saintes)
I use Mizon 8, an argon co2 mix.

No prob.
Just paid circa €80 for a exchange on a 1mtr high bottle. Sounds more expensive than UK, but most things are here. You might inquire about 'pub gas' CO2. I used it a lot before moving here. Dirt cheap, but the Mison is much better.

Hi, last bottle of gas for the Mig was €286 exchange ( 12 months ago S/W France ), this excludes the 4 year contract charge of about €350, this was with Air Products . Moved back to the UK now and cant believe how cheap the gas is .

Huh, how big was your bottle?
My rental contract is around €250 for three years IIRR. Still bl++dy expensive, but no choice here. If there is, I would REALLY like to hear about it.

I just got a half size arcal 21 (4cm) from air liquid approx 199 euro for 3year cont plus 90 recharge fee
just been quoted 160 recharge price for a pair of portapac size (1cm ) oxy and (.8cm)acet almost the same as for half or full size bottles pub gas is also about 80 per recharge which is why beer is so expensive in a bar
