shenion Tool Pack Rat Messages 7,586 Location Stone Mountain, GA USA Jul 26, 2008 #2 Ar/CO2 mix would give cleanest weld. CO2 will work. Ask you gas supplier. Each has their own mixes. They would probably recommend ArgoShield Light or an equivqlent. Here we would use 75/25 Ar/CO2, we use that for most uses.

Click to expand... 5% is fine if it is tri-mix, not for Ar/CO2. 93/5/2 Ar/CO2/O2 is equivalent to about 80/20 Ar/CO2 (or maybe 85/15). Remember the O2 is about 5 times as effective at adding heat than CO2.
