Gas / Gasless

Hi, ive just got my Co2 bottle back and i wondered what kind of setting i need to set the gas flow at for gas welding. The welder is set up for gasless at the moment so i have to change the polarity and the wire.
The welder is a 150A Mig.

Also what would happen if i changed the polarity and used the gas with the flux core wire ??

Once you have a quality regulator fitted

I found running at 10 lpm indoors was fine, I should imagine the flux on the gasless wire would just overide your co2 gas and you would see no difference to when you had it set as gasless.

Set gas at about 10 l/m (Litres per Minute), to start with, see how you get on, adjust as necessary. If you are anywhere in the draught, a higher setting will be necessary, or close the door.

What's this, a double whammy?

Changing the polarity over to gas wire setting and then using flux core will probably result in a poorer-quality weld, but some makes of flux wire can still give reasonable welds at this setting. Nothing terrible will happen to the welder.

Using C02 gas with flux wire would probably make for an unbalanced hot weld, as both flux core wire on its own is hotter than gas wire, and CO2 gas actively makes the weld hotter anyway. To make matters worse, your gas may interfere with the flux shielding the weld. So not really a good idea.

When you change to gas wire, don't forget to check your wire feed roller. You may need to change it around if you are using 0.6mm gas wire.

Thanks for the info, ive just tried to connect the regulator but where the brass fitting mates against the gas bottle their is no washer so gas is escaping when i turn it on. if that makes sence.
I presume their should be a washer of some sorts.:dontknow
I will get a pic of the offending regulator up later when i get back.
