Gas gas gas - can you connect two regulator together?

I am using an ally cylinder tested and filled last by BOC with its regulator connected to a mini mig disposable regulator. No pressure on gauges (I think that makes sense because the upper regulator holds gas untilit sees flow, controlled open flow wont show a pressure diiferential??) Mini gauged regulator gauge shows flow of 10ltr/min and welds look good - so is this OK?

Its cheaper than buying disposables.

When the gas runs out Ill hire a BOC bottle.

I doubt if the cylinder was filled by BOC as their cylinders are top exit with a key not side exit with a tap and they are very finicky about filling anything that is not theirs.

They did twice but last time was 15 years ago!! The green band is theirs and was marked following a water pressure test whichthey did. I also have a BOC sticker on the bottle. Second time around took a lot of persuading - they did refuse to fill to max pressure though.

20 years ago a number of suppliers used to decant from banks of BOC bottles into all sorts of pressure vessels but alas no more. My bottle comes from StratoFlame in Macclesfield and was supplied in 1985 full.

We've got some side exit with handwheel cylinders from BOC at work

Its a bit Heath Robinson, but I can see it being any problem as long as the connections are all O.K

There is no reason that you can't connect two regulators together.

We run our argon manifolds regulated at 25psi, and connect standard flowmeters and regulators to them using common pneumatic chucks. Works nicely. The downstream regulators are working well below their rated input pressure.

There was a place in bristol that would fill bottles, used to get pub c02 filled with argoshield Needed to get boc account so have not tried them for a few years but pretty sure they are still trading, will find out later today an let you know.
