Gas bottle woodburner help!!

Hi everyone this is my first post

I need help removing the safety cap from the calor gas bottle I have as its quite old and well stuck

if you cant see the picture then it has a little white valve on the side of the safety cap. I can see it has a nut on it but is it as simple as taking that off??

Hacksaw through the base of the valve, after ensuring the cylinder is empty.

Smash the rest out with a BFH and cold chisel!

Alternatively cut off protective shroud with grinder and the simply unscrew valve with large wrench

It would be easier to cut the handle off but I managed it with it still on. The valve is on a tapered thread and will have been done up very tight, you'll need a big stillson (or a small one and a cheater bar).

Pour a kettle full of boiling water over the valve and it will unscrew a lot more easily.
