Gas botle broken

Spent all day yesterday practicing what i'd learnt of the main site and my weldings come on no end, only problem i had was after finishing yesterday i kinda snapped the on off tap off my nice new big bottle of argoshield, i;ve not snapped the regulator i;ve snapped the actual onoff tap on the bottle in the off position

Can these be changed?

Lucky it was in the off position - would have frightened the neighbours a bit otherwise!
If it's a BOC or Air Products cylinder they will swap it for you with no charge.

And therein lies my problem!
Its a BOC one but one of the many that have gone missing over the years so i;m not paying rental so dont get this kinda support!

Well you must be getting it changed somewhere when you need gas so they should sawp it for you. Ultimately, it will end up back at BOC & they just swap em for another.

I'm gonna have to find someone whose about to do a bottle swap and switch it for one of theirs i guess...

how you do get it filled? I have a small BOC one but now rent from Air Products as BOC is to far away since we moved.

i was gonna worry about the refilling when i actually got around to emptying it! a 35KG bottle will last me forever so it wasnt worth renting a cylinder for the small amount i use it

Ah I see. Round here one of the pub gas companies will fill just about any bottle you have but it has a turn round of about 3 days so you would need a spare (or not be worried about a 3 day stand still on the job which is no good for me as I mainly fix stuff that just broke so I can get back to work)

i'm no pro i;m just restoring my Ford Capri so a big bottle like that theoretically will last me ages!

YAY FIXED IT!
There was a huge brass nut was worried if i undid that the remaining tap would fire out at speed so did the only sensible thing and aimed it away from the shed (but towards my house) and undid it slowly, turns out you can then take out the rest of the tap and use a square socket to undo it!
