garden incinerator too fierce-how to dampen/slow

got one of the dustbin style incinerators , ive been smashing up my old fence to burn , trouble is burns like crazy and gets a bit too fierce rather than a steady fire

is there a way to tame it down a bit ? should i close off part of the chimney?

Garden sprayer or hose pipe sprayed down the chimney?

Block some of the air holes at the bottom.

...it always surprises me that they bother galvanising those things too.

its fierce due to whats been painted on the fence conifers are the same

to dampen down block some of the holes off like whats been quoted but also remember a better flame gives height for the fumes

issue is its a bit lairy for how near to the shed it is....would be more happy with a gentle fierce where this is near mental at times , as far as know its just had water based toot on it , but i spose the might be some creosote on it

Its more labor intensive, but just feed it little and often. Limit that side of the fire triangle instead.
