Garden hose auto retractable reels.

Anyone got one? has it been any good?

I am after two must be wall mounted and be able to move in an arc of as near to 180 degrees if possible.

Hozelock seem to be the main ones, Gardena are out there as well, plus all the name I have never heard of.

I would prefer manual rewind as I just know the auto bit will go belly up at some point, but cannot find them with a sensible arc of movement.

I have had the Hozelock one, had it over a year and happy with it. Just try not to retract it when the hose is wet and gritty or it can be sticky. I try to put it away when dry or run the wet section through an old towel first.

Hate say bad things......
we needed 2 more retractable garden hoses.....
Genuine Hozelock's are working out around 200euro's each.....(No other makes I can find short of buying from Temu).....Plus I have to get them shipped from Athens.....
So on offer was the Parkside unit at 65 euros.......said to her just get 1 and we'll try it....
It's now about 2 weeks old and frankly useless.....
It never retracted properly from day 1 and the spring is so strong u need to wrap the hose around ur body to save the stress on ur arms....
And now this...it always dribbled a bit when in use from within the...

My friend just had a decent one fitted, if I remember next time I'll find out what and grab a photo.

She also has a new decent, or better than ours, washing line. Ours broke and tried to poke my eye out yesterday so I ordered one today, was £90 when we ordered..

Had the Hozelock one for years (well over 10) and it’s still going strong.

As above, try to clean the hose before retracting . I also find it retracts easier when no water pressure is on but it does work without turning the tap off, but is a bit more sluggish and sometimes the last few feet needs a hand - but those are pretty minor niggles and I’m very happy with it.

Used to have a manual hose lock that was ok, then upgraded to this hinged, auto retract, 35m Gardena, the quality is much higher, also feeds to hose side to side when reacting. Very happy with it. It also easily lifts off if you want to store it in the shed over winter etc.

on the outdoor retractable air line we have in the yard for crane and truck tyres, we have a bit of flat bar and a ring with a microfibre cable tied in place...hose runs through the microfibre ring to keep it relatively clean when retracting

We had the automatic Hoselock. It was great for about a year then you'd spend ages trying to get it to retract correctly, clean the hose, carefully retract to ensure it coiled up right, opened the mechanism to see nothing amiss. Seeing how faded and warped it was I decided to replace it 2 years ago with a Gardena one and RaceDiagnostics said the quality is much higher and no issues at all and a much lighter action.

Costco tend to do good prices on them, especially at the end of summer, if you're a member

If the 180 degree swing is the pitfall in your quest then I'm sure this would be very easy to make yourself and then add the hose reel of your choice onto. Giving you a greater range of options

Can't comment on the auto, but our old Hoselock floor standing plastic reel became brittle and broke, was about 15 years old though, probably from UV exposure, so may be a good idea to keep out of direct sunlight with a cover of some sort.

My Hozelock 30m stands in direct sun and 40º plus.....after 5 years a little faded is all thats happened.....
a full 180º of movement......retracts sweetly.....mine gets a workout at least 3 times per day....
I have a ball valve in the supply line underneath the reel....easy to open and close with ur foot...
Like ur's the hose moves side to side when retracting.....
Just been checking on Amazon DE, (eBay DE, Amazon DE is the go too on-line shopping in Greece) it's 85 euro's where as here it's 180 odd...they wont deliver to Greece from Germany but u may get lucky in the UK....
Def worth a look.......
